Dr. Sana Syed

Founder

Dr. Sana Syed is the founder/CEO of Kimiya International, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to humanitarian research, advocacy and storytelling.

She has been featured on CNN International and WFAA for KI’s award-winning documentary, Transitions, chronicling the journey of a husband and wife from the U.S. who moved to Cambodia to transition young girls out of brothels. The KI team is currently filming a documentary on Syrian refugees in Jordan. Kimiya International is also a member of United Way’s Social Innovation Accelerator program for Fight Club, a program that combines boxing, yoga and counseling for women in Dallas who are survivors of trauma.

Previously, Dr. Syed served as the director of the Public Information Office and spokesperson for the City of Dallas. She managed the city’s international response to Ebola and the July 7 ambush on DPD officers. She is a former news anchor/reporter and has worked at KDFW and KTVT in Dallas, KOKH in Oklahoma City, OK and WBRZ in Baton Rouge, LA.

Dr. Syed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, a Master of Science in Journalism from TCU and a PhD in Public Policy from UTA. She is also a member of Leadership Dallas Class of 2020.
