Be Your Future Self's Best Friend

In the words of RuPaul, “if you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?”

If you're hard on yourself, it’s important to give yourself a break. You’d never be so hard on a friend or loved one, so show yourself the same grace. Follow our steps and soon you’ll be your future self’s best friend.

  • Practice Self-Care - you can’t be on 100% of the time, you have to take a break and care for yourself. Whether that’s an hour of alone with a good book or the chance to talk to your therapist, you’ve got to make sure you're in tip-top shape mentally, physically and emotionally.
  • Do what you can today - Rome wasn’t built in a day and your problems won't be solved in one either. Don’t stress about everything you have to do, just focus on what you can accomplish that day and be proud of that.
  • Give yourself a break - You’re not perfect, don’t hold yourself to an unattainable standard. You’re going to make mistakes or be tired, and that is okay. Allow yourself a moment to pause.
  • The Golden Rule - We’re all taught this classic adage as children: treat others the way you want to be treated. Take that and apply it to yourself. Treat yourself with kindness, respect and understanding. You deserve that.
